Utilities Courier Services

 

Courier Services is responsible for delivering supplies and resources between 41 off-site clinics and the 4 UTMB campuses.

Van: Jose Martinez, Our CDL Commercial Driver, our most senior driver and can execute 22 different routes.

Services:

  • Transportation of time-sensitive specimens and tissue samples to Laboratory Services for resulting, blood products, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Transportation of mail to/from off-island locations.
  • Transportation of surgical equipment and instruments.
  • Transportation of medical supplies from Supply Chain.
  • Distribution and retrieval of blue recycle bags.
  • Distribution of linen orders.
  • Ad-hoc and STAT deliveries to/from specific community locations.
  • Provide Driver services for UTMB Mammography community outreach initiatives.
  • Operation of UTMB Shuttle bus services on Galveston and League City campuses.

Service Level Agreement:

Courier Services coordinates specific routes 7 days a week from approximately 6:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. each day to provide Institutional courier needs to/from off-site clinics and campuses, with an on-time goal of 95% or greater, and accuracy of delivery at 99% or greater.  At present, we do not operate  24-7.

  • Each Courier receives:
    • Annual training and certification regarding the transportation of Blood Borne Pathogen and HIPPA regulations.
    • Defensive Driving every 3 years.
