Financial Counseling
All students who received loans from the Federal Direct Loan program are required to complete Entrance Counseling prior to the disbursement of their loan funds. If you have done this previously, you do not need to complete it again. On the same website, you will find valuable information regarding loan terms, as well are repayment and consolidation. You are also invited to visit the Financial Aid Office and discuss your loans and financial concerns with one of our qualified counselors. An appointment is not required, but if you prefer to schedule a particular time, you may contact the office by calling (409)772-1215 or emailing sfinaid@utmb.edu.
We also recommend visiting the Financial Literacy segment of our website to view additional information which may interest you. We offer several presentations each year to assist you with the financial aid application process, as well as to help you grow in your understanding more about your financial rights and responsibilities as a borrower.
In your final semester, if you received loans, you will be required to complete an Exit Interview. Students who do not complete the Exit Interview will have a hold placed on their record until this requirement is complete. That hold will prevent the release of any official transcript or other records.
