  • Institutional Accreditation Update: February 2026

    The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) facilitates UTMB's institutional accreditation with the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on College (SACSCOC). As UTMB approaches its next scheduled accreditation with SACSCOC in 2028, OIE will share regular progress updates.

    The Houston Chronicle has officially opened nominations for its 26th Annual Salute to Nurses. Extraordinary UTMB nurses and nursing students may be nominated for honors through March 1, 2026.

    Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of supporters through auction bids, table sponsorships, ticket purchases, and individual donations, the Holiday Style Fashion Show raised more than $343,000, including $60,000 from the auction alone.

    Four faculty members have received educational grants through the Academy of Master Teachers (AMT) and Teaching Excellence and Mentorship (TEAM). These funds support educational innovation through projects by our faculty. Congratulations!

    Are you looking to publish your manuscript in a scholarly journal but wary of the Article Processing Charges or Open Access Fees? Moody Medical Library, in partnership with our subscriptions with UT System, has entered into agreements with publishers to cover, or partially cover, article processing charges for open access publishing.

  • Learning @ Your Library -  Identifying Predatory Journals and Conferences

    Predatory journals and conferences are preying on academics. They exploit the "author pays" open access model and the need to publish. This class explores features of predatory publishers and how to distinguish from legitimate open access publishing opportunities.

    The Faculty Factory now has more than 360 episodes! As of Jan. 1, 2026, the podcast and YouTube channel have had more than 142,000 total downloads from listeners in 101 countries, and the Faculty Factory website has drawn more than 71,000 web visits from users in 122 countries.
