A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DR. AMPOFO
Born and raised in a
developing country like Ghana, I found my passion for service very early. This,
combined with my interest in the sciences, naturally inclined me to medicine. I
moved to Bronx, NY with my family and navigated my way through community college,
then transferred and graduated from York College in Queens, NY with a
Biotechnology degree. After a brief stint as a Research technician, I did a
masters in Touro college before attending medical school at Liberty University
College of Osteopathic Medicine. I was drawn to family medicine because I
believe it is the ultimate privilege to partner with our patients and work
towards total wellness throughout their lifetimes.
I chose UTMB for the program’s robust training, the great sense of
community and camaraderie amongst everyone, and the family I would get to grow
up in as a resident. I believe UTMB will provide a strong platform to become
the well-rounded, empathetic, and diligent physician I aspire to be.
When not working I love to spend time with my wife and 2 girls,
watch/play soccer, brew Kombucha and learn how to make different vegetarian
dishes on YouTube.
