Our Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is a part of UTMB Health, the oldest medical school and hospital in the state of Texas, founded in 1891. Since then, our focus has always been to establish the system that would allow us to provide our patients with best possible care. We
call the system academic cardiology–the dynamic integration of research, patient care, and education.
We believe that our patient care is only enhanced by rigorous clinical and basic cardiology research. Research means not only innovation and discovery, but the ability to solve the complex problems. We publish a number of clinical and basic research papers
in medical and scientific journals. Because of our research efforts, we are fully updated with the newest progress in cardiovascular medicine and contribute to the future invention and discovery in the field. We also believe that the highest degree of professionalism
and compassion is mandatory in the delivery of exemplary cardiovascular medicine care. We deliver the most appropriate care in each and every case. This means that we do not perform unnecessary tests or procedures and that when intervention is necessary due to
progression of the condition, we are swift to perform them. Every decision here is based on evidence provided by the literature that is carefully interpreted by our highly experienced cardiologists. We adopt an academic group practice style where
all of our cardiologists are full-time professors appointed by our Medical School after careful credentialing and stringent selection process. We are also salaried employees of the UTMB Health, whose only incentive is to provide highest quality care
