Welcome to the
University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston!
UTMB’s Academic Enterprise is committed to furthering our impact as a world-class academic health science center. As Executive Vice President, Provost, and Dean of the John Sealy School of Medicine, I am honored to lead a team committed to advancing
health care through education, research, and clinical care.
UTMB is home to five outstanding schools that encompass a broad range of expertise, offering first-rate educational programs. We are proud to train the next generation of leaders in medicine, nursing, biomedical sciences, allied health professions, and
public health. We value collaboration and interprofessional training, producing graduates who are well-equipped to meet current and future health care needs.
Our Research Enterprise is at the cutting edge. We lead in infectious disease research and are rapidly expanding our footprint in critical research areas like brain health, vaccine development, and drug discovery. Our campus is the site of the Galveston
National Laboratory, a high-containment research facility that serves as a critically important resource in the global fight against infectious diseases.
We continually innovate to deliver the highest quality clinical care for patients in Galveston and the Texas Gulf Coast region. Our clinical faculty has expertise in all aspects of care and a wide range of medical and surgical specialties. We are excited
to continue growing our clinical services, ensuring patients in our area have access to the best, most comprehensive care available.
With a rich history of more than 130 years, UTMB is known for its strength and resilience. The way we respond to challenges and to changing times makes me extremely proud of UTMB and the dedicated people who make up our institution. Through the commitment
of our outstanding faculty, staff, and students, we will continue to advance health care for many more years to come.
Sincerely ,
