        • Two southbound lanes and ramps closed on I-45 this weekend

Motorists traveling southbound on I-45 in Galveston County this weekend may expect delays and detours. The Texas Department of Transportation will be closing two main traffic lanes from FM 1764 to FM 519 (La Marque area) to realign the highway.  There will also be intermittent ramp closures in the construction zone during the work.

Two southbound lanes of the highway from FM 1764 to FM 519 will be closed beginning Friday night (April 5) at 9 pm, until 7 am Sunday morning. One lane will remain open.

After this closure, motorists will be redirected to new pavement and bridges east of the current roadway. This will allow the construction of new southbound lanes and bridges, as well as the new Delaney road intersection.

The weekend's work could slow access to the island for motorists from the north,  and affect urgent care at UTMB's Primary and Specialty Care Clinic in Texas City.  Expect delays, find alternate routes when possible, and check current conditions online before you head to your destination, at https://www.utmb.edu/public-alert/i-45-traffic or on your preferred traffic app.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. Check Houston Transtar for the latest construction updates  at https://traffic.houstontranstar.org/construction/
