Our Services

The Sealy Center on Aging (SCOA) brings together experts from all five UTMB schools to advance aging research, education, clinical care, and community engagement. We provide the resources, expertise, and infrastructure needed to support collaborative research and improve the health of older adults.

Our operations team includes specialists in biostatistics, scientific writing and editing, communications, web and multimedia services, business operations, research support, and clinical research coordination.

Community Advisory Board

The Community Advisory Board (CAB) brings together older adults, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders to provide feedback on aging research and help ensure studies address community priorities and needs.

Community Connection

The Community Connection shares aging research, educational resources, and volunteer opportunities with older adults throughout Galveston County through a quarterly newsletter reaching more than 1,400 subscribers.

Clinical Research Coordination

Our Clinical Research Coordination team supports aging-related studies from startup through completion. Areas of research include:

  • Dementia detection and care
  • Patient engagement and adherence
  • Physical activity and healthy aging
  • Stroke and traumatic brain injury recovery
  • Elder abuse prevention
  • Nutrition and health screening initiatives

Multimedia & Communications

We help researchers and community members stay connected through digital communications and outreach.

Services include:

  • Website development and maintenance
  • Graphic design for print and digital materials
  • Social media management
  • Newsletter design and distribution
  • Research and event promotion

SCOA maintains an active presence across Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and X to share aging research, educational content, and community opportunities.
