Dr. Al Snih’s work focuses on aging, frailty, and functional decline; health disparities in Hispanic populations; chronic disease and multimorbidity, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease; and physical activity, mobility, and fall risk in older adults. Through her scholarship, she has made significant contributions to improving our understanding of the factors that influence health and independence in later life.

In addition to her research accomplishments, Dr. Al Snih is a dedicated mentor and leader. She serves on the Administrative Core of the Texas Resource Center on Minority Aging Research, where she helps foster the development of the next generation of aging researchers. She is also a co-leader of the Pilot and Exploratory Studies Core of the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center
