Biography

José D. Rojas, PhD, RRT, RPFT, FAARC is an Associate Professor (Tenured) of the Department of Respiratory Therapy in the School of Health Professions. He is also an Assistant Dean of Opportunity, Belonging and Enrichment for the School of Health Professions. Dr. Rojas received a Bachelor of Applied Studies in Biology from Abilene Christian University and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Physiology from Texas Tech University Health Science Center.

Dr. Rojas has been teaching at UTMB since 2007. He is also involved with the translational ICU on projects related to lung injury. Areas of clinical interest include aerosol therapy and mechanical ventilation. Basic science research interests include acute lung injury, ion/fluid transport across the damaged respiratory epithelium and microvasculature.
