Physician Assistant Studies Appeals

Step 1: If you wish to appeal an exam score, evaluation or course grade to the course director, please email your request to Shirley McGraw (smcgraw@utmb.edu) in care of the course director within five (5) business days of the posting of the exam score, evaluation or course grade.

Step 2:If you wish to appeal a denial of your initial appeal by the course director, you may appeal to the UTMB PA Progress and Promotion Committee. Please email your request to Shirley McGraw  (smcgraw@utmb.edu) within five (5) business days of the denial by the course director.

Step 3: If the UTMB PA Progress and Promotion Committee denies your request, you may appeal to the UTMB PA Program Director. Please submit your request to Shirley McGraw (smcgraw@utmb.edu) within five (5) business days after the date on the official notification from the UTMB PA Progress and Promotion Committee.

Step 4:If the UTMB PA Program Director denies your request, you may appeal to the JSSOM Academic Review Committee (ARC). Please submit your request to apcarccmty@utmb.eduwithin five (5) business days after the date on the official notification letter from the UTMB PA Program Director. No further appeals are allowed.

Step 1:If you wish to appeal a dismissal determination from the UTMB PA Progress and Promotion Committee, you may do so by appealing to the UTMB PA Program Director. Please submit your request by email to Shirley McGraw (smcgraw@utmb.edu) in care of the UTMB PA Program Director within five (5) business days of the dismissal notification.

Step 2:If the UTMB PA Program Director denies your appeal, you may appeal to the JSSOM Academic Progress Committee (APC). Please submit your request to apcarccmty@utmb.edu within five (5) business days after the date on the official notification letter from the UTMB PA Program Director.

Step 3:If the JSSOM APC denies your appeal, you may appeal that decision to the JSSOM Academic Review Committee (ARC). Please submit your request to apcarccmty@utmb.eduwithin five (5) business days after the date on the official notification letter from JSSOM APC.

Step 4:If the JSSOM ARC denies your appeal, you may appeal that decision to the JSSOM Dean of Medicine. Please submit your request to apcarccmty@utmb.edu within five (5) business days after the date on the official notification letter from JSSOM ARC.

Step 5:If the JSSOM Dean of Medicine upholds your dismissal, no further appeals are allowed. If the dismissal decision of the UTMB PA Progress and Promotion Committee is reversed by the UTMB PA Program Director, the APC, the ARC or the JSSOM Dean of Medicine, the case returns to the UTMB PA Program Director for a determination of the remedial work required.
