Integration of biostatistics and data science expertises to improve health care equity and delivery for diverse populations.
Mission
The mission of department is to provide infrastructure and expertises on biostatistics and data science to support and enhance education, research, and services at UTMB across five schools and at our region.
Goals
To provide campus-wide training to students, residents, fellows, and postdocs through didactic formal courses, short courses, seminars, and workshops.
To conduct methodological research and collaborative research with investigators from basic, clinical, and population health science departments.
To support study design, data management, and statistical analysis using prospective data collected from surveys, interventions, or clinical trials, as well as retrospective data from claims or electronic health records for all trainees and faculty at UTMB.
To develop educational and infrastructure resources to support training and research across institutions in our region.
Two Biostatistics Program: Offer MS Biostatistics and MPH Biostatistics
Seminars: Co-sponsor seminars with 1) Data Management and Analysis Core for Comparative Effectiveness Research on Cancer in Texas, 2) Claude D. Pepper Older American Independence Center, 3). Texas Resource Center on Minority Aging Research.
Short Courses: Provide training to medical students, residents, and fellows.
