Welcome to the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery within the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Our service provides high-quality cutting-edge technology with state-of-the-art patient care. Supported by
the advanced resources at UTMB, our faculty provide extensive specialized medical services including comprehensive facial trauma and reconstruction, head and neck surgical oncology, microvascular reconstruction of head and neck defects, obstructive
sleep apnea, and full mouth rehabilitation.
Our faculty are leaders in their field and are all board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS). Our research covers a wide span of the field, with faculty directly involved in multi-institutional clinical trials as
well as prospective and retrospective clinical studies. We have a strong foothold as leaders in education, both through our publications in highly indexed journals as well as our national and international presentations.
We are dedicated to training impactful future Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. We offer a four-year residency training and a one-year non-categorical internship. Also, we offer a two-week externship for students interested in our program. Our residency
training program provides the full contemporary spectrum of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with plans to expand our services to cover all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, including Temporomandibular joint (TMJ), craniofacial, and cosmetic
surgeries. We are proud of the fact that all our graduating residents passed the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery on their first attempt.
