The Office of Health Policy and Legislative Affairs (HPLA) represents UTMB’s policy interests across the three major enterprises – education, research, and health care – on the state and federal levels.
The HPLA team’s legislative portfolio includes state appropriations, healthcare workforce, higher education, research needs, correctional care, and other existing and emerging hospital and health-related issues. The office works to increase both internal and external knowledge and communication surrounding relevant policy issues, to best support UTMB’s mission.
