Faculty Profile

  • Dr. Hussein A. Hussein earned his medical degree from the University of Al-Mustansiriyah, Iraq, in 1999. In 2009, he completed a general surgery residency in Amman, Jordan. He first joined UTMB as a fellow in reconstructive surgery, completing his fellowship in 2014. Dr. Hussein then pursued a cardiovascular fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, graduating in 2016. In 2019, he finished an internal medicine residency at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. He returned to UTMB to complete fellowships in both general and interventional nephrology, finishing in 2021.

    Dr. Hussein now joins UTMB as General and Interventional Nephrologist. He performs procedures such as kidney biopsies, tunneled /non-tunneled dialysis catheters placements, arteriovenous fistula /grafts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including angioplasties and thrombectomies.
