Faculty Profile

Dr. Mehmet Altintas received his B.S., M.Sc., and Ph.D. all in Chemical Engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Türkiye. Upon obtaining his degrees. Dr. Altintas continued his postdoctoral training in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, as well as with the Nephrology Department at Massachusetts General Hospital in Charlestown, MA.

Prior to joining UTMB Health, Dr. Altintas served as an Associate Professor at Rush University in Chicago, IL since 2012. Before his career at Rush University, he held academic appointments at Harvard University and the University of Miami, respectively.

Dr. Altintas is a senior scientist/academician with more than 20 years of teaching and research experience in Engineering and Medical colleges. He is a nationally renowned podocyte scientist with a strong publication record in the field of Nephrology. .
