Biography

Amber Armstead, DrPH, OTR, BCPR is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the UTMB School of Health Professions. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch and her Doctorate in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Armstead has presented and published peer-reviewed research on health disparities and chronic HIV among marginalized communities. She has presented at regional and national conferences. Her research interests include total wellness among marginalized populations, community health, and chronic disease management among people living with HIV and neurodegenerative conditions. Her clinical experience includes adult neurological based rehabilitation specializing in spinal cord injuries and neurodegenerative conditions, physical disabilities across the life span along with community health promotion.
