Thank you for taking the time to visit our University of Texas Medical Center Police Department (UTMB PD) website. The website will not only introduce you to our Police department, it will directly connect you to the information you need to have a safe and rewarding experience while on campus. Please take a moment to explore the many resources presented, including our various safety and preparedness programs and training opportunities.
As you will see, the men and women of the UTMB PD are fully committed to offering quality law enforcement services in order to provide for the safety and security of our campus community. UTMB PD is a fully accredited State law enforcement agency consisting of 68 experienced commissioned police officers and 46 dedicated uniformed public safety officers. Our law enforcement and security staff serve as a visible presence on our various campuses and provide a wide range of services that go above and beyond those of traditional law enforcement agencies. As a full-service Police department, the UTMB PD provides 24-hour patrol coverage, investigative services, and wide range of other crime prevention strategies to all of our four campuses and over 80 individual off-site clinics. The department also maintains a 24/7 emergency communications center, badge office, lock-shop, and a devoted group of administrative support staff.
Utilizing these resources and tools, the UTMB PD strives to enhance the quality of life on our various campuses, making them each a better place to heal, live, learn, work and experience all that UTMB has to offer. Still, the Police Department cannot do this alone, it requires the partnership of everyone on the campus, whether student, faculty, staff, patient or visitor. For this reason, the UTMB PD works hard to maintain strong campus relationships and focuses heavily on community partnerships. Our community policing model is at the center of everything we do and serves as a forum for students, faculty, staff, patients and visitors to interact with our staff to prevent crime and improve safety. Crime prevention requires that we all educate ourselves on personal safety and security matters and this website can be your primary source of information.
Thanks again for visiting and, again, welcome to UTMB.
Sincerely,
Ken Adcox,
Chief of Police
